Nintendo continues to consolidate its dominance in the home console market. New data from US analyst firm Circana shows that console sales in the US during September 2025 rose 24% year-over-year to $324 million thanks to the continued success of the Switch 2.
According to the report, year-to-date console sales totaled $3.18 billion, a 20% increase over the same period last year, a figure that reflects the continued strong demand for the Switch 2 since its launch earlier this year
Recent reports revealed that Nintendo has asked its factories to increase production to 25 million units over the next six months to meet the high demand globally, and the company is expected to release an official update on sales figures during its upcoming earnings meeting on November 4.
The PlayStation 5 maintained the No. 2 spot in terms of both units sold and total revenue, while the Xbox Series X|S came in at No. 3, but the report noted that the two consoles recorded a double-digit decline in annual sales, reflecting slower demand compared to rival Nintendo.
Accessory sales fell 10% year-over-year to $197 million in September, while year-to-date sales totaled $1.83 billion, down 6%. The PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller in black topped the list of best-selling accessories during the month, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller continued to be the best-selling accessory since the beginning of the year.
Although the Switch 2 is historically one of Nintendo’s most expensive devices, the numbers prove that price has not been a barrier to strong demand, and as Nintendo continues to expand production and prepare for upcoming announcements in November, the company appears to be on track for another record-breaking year.
