As the release of Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2 approaches on September 4, 2025, disturbing reports have surfaced about the game’s performance on the platform.
The game, announced at the recent Partner Showcase, will be the first Ubisoft title to arrive on the Switch 2. But according to a new report from Gamerant and GVG after their experience at PAX West 2025, performance is “unstable” with a noticeable drop in frame rate.
GVG explained in a video that they were not allowed to record any footage of the demo version, neither via direct screen capture nor even with rear cameras, and were limited to experimenting and sharing impressions. They noted that the demo included only closed scenes, such as a confrontation next to a Star Destroyer and a small space battle, without any open-world content.
However, these closed scenes saw the frame rate repeatedly drop below 30FPS, which the team described as “poor performance,” especially days before launch.
So far, Ubisoft has not officially commented on the reports, and it is likely that these issues will be fixed via a launch day update. However, questions remain about the readiness of the final version, especially since the game is one of the Switch 2’s biggest releases of the year.
