Terminator Survivors delayed and turned into a solo experience

Terminator Survivors’ journey to market has not been easy since its announcement, and as 2025 draws to a close, Nacon Studio Milan has released a major update on the state of development of the open-world survival game inspired by the iconic sci-fi series, but the news is not encouraging for fans of the title.

In an open letter to players, Marco Ponti, the game’s creative director, praised the community’s continued patience and support and emphasized the team’s commitment to delivering an experience that respects the legacy of the Terminator universe and accurately and faithfully reflects its bleak atmosphere.

The development team has made significant progress this year in several key areas, including world design, combat systems, and deepening storytelling. The game aims to immerse players in a post-apocalyptic world where Skynet machines have taken over humanity and players take on the role of survivors trying to survive the devastation, confront the first Skynet prototypes, and help spark the resistance known from the series’ films.

The studio confirmed that Terminator Survivors is now a fully single-player game after removing all multiplayer elements from the project. According to Ponti, this decision came after extensive testing and lengthy discussions with players, after which the team concluded that focusing on the single-player experience was the best way to embody the uncompromising and uncompromising vision of the Terminator universe.

The studio also announced the abandonment of an Early Access launch, preferring to release the game later as a complete and polished product from day one.

The most disappointing news is that the game’s release date has been pushed back indefinitely without providing any approximate time window, leaving the future of Terminator Survivors unclear for the time being.

In an effort to further engage the community, the studio has indicated plans to conduct closed NDA playtests closer to launch and has invited interested players to register on the game’ s Steam page to participate in these tests.
