At Gamescom 2025, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment revealed an all-new mode for The Division 2 called Survivors, which represents the Survival Extraction experience that the player community has been clamoring for since the game’s launch in 2019.
Since its release, The Division 2 has continued to grow through seasonal updates and expansions. During its Year 7 roadmap presentation, the company announced two major updates were coming, before revealing the biggest surprise: Project Survivors, set to arrive in 2026.
The new installment is still in early development stages under the direction of director Magnus Jansén. In an official article, Executive Producer Julian Gerighty stated: “Survivors is as much your project as it is ours, and we will operate with absolute transparency, with constant communication and community involvement every step of the way.
Concept images posted on the official blog revealed familiar landmarks from Washington, D.C. covered in snow, in an atmosphere reminiscent of the first Survivors. Ubisoft seems to be aiming for a revitalized experience that reflects the authenticity of the series while meeting the demands of fans.
While the project is still far from launch, the enthusiasm in the team’s statements suggests that Survivors could be the biggest addition in the game’s history.
