Sony Honda Mobility has announced that its first electric car, the Afeela, will be the world’s first vehicle to support PS Remote Play, with deliveries to begin in California in 2026.
According to an official statement published on the company’s blog, Afeela will allow users to play their games on PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 remotely directly through the in-car infotainment system, and this experience depends on the connection to the user’s home device, not on cloud streaming, as games are displayed on the car’s built-in screen while taking advantage of an advanced sound system.
Izumi Kawanishi, Executive Representative, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sony Honda Mobility, explained that the introduction of PS Remote Play embodies Afeela’s vision to transform the mobility space into a distinctive entertainment and emotional experience, stressing that this step takes the travel experience to a new level of in-vehicle entertainment.
Technically, PS Remote Play requires an internet connection of at least 5 Mbps, with a stable 15 Mbps connection recommended to ensure a seamless experience, and a PS5 or PS4 is required to take advantage of the feature.
The move is part of a broader push to integrate gaming into cars, with previous partnerships announced to bring services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming to connected vehicles. With PS Remote Play support, Sony Honda Mobility seeks to differentiate Afeela as a mobile entertainment platform that combines driving with modern interactive technologies.
