The Game Awards 2025 has become the most-watched edition since its inception, with organizer and host Jeff Kelly revealing via social media that the 12th edition set global viewing records.
According to Kelly, more than 171 million live streams of the entire show were viewed globally, an 11% increase compared to 2024’s 151 million live streams.
Kelly explained that these figures only include full live streams across official platforms and do not include short clips or reposts on social media, nor do they include viewing data on Prime Video, although the platform streamed the ceremony for the first time this year.
The Game Awards 2025 was shown across a wide range of platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Xbox, Kick, Facebook, Instagram and Prime Video. According to Streamcharts data cited by Variety, the number of concurrent viewers in prime time reached 4.4 million, surpassing last year’s figure of 4 million.
The event also saw a significant increase in the number of co-streams, with more than 23,000 co-streams recorded on YouTube and Twitch, an increase of 50% compared to 2024, reflecting the expansion of community engagement with the event.
Although opinions vary on the level of performances and awards, the numbers confirm the great success of the event in terms of reach and impact, and several strong announcements have contributed to the momentum, most notably the reveal of Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic.
On the awards front, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 dominated the ceremony , winning in most of the categories for which it was nominated and breaking the record for the most awards in The Game Awards history with nine.
These results confirm that The Game Awards has become a major global event for the gaming industry, not only for the distribution of awards, but also as a huge platform for revealing major projects and taking the pulse of the global gamer community.
