Bethesda’s creative director Todd Howard has had a heavy media presence recently in conjunction with the promotional campaigns for the new season of the Fallout TV series, and this frequent appearance led him to make statements that caused some confusion about which projects are prioritized within the studio.
In a recent interview with Game Informer, Howard explained that the vast majority of the studio’s team is currently working on The Elder Scrolls 6, while also emphasizing that Bethesda is used to working in parallel on several projects at once.
However, these statements seemed to contradict his previous talk a few days ago in which he indicated that the Fallout series is the project that receives the most effort and focus within the studio currently, and this discrepancy in the statements led followers to wonder about the actual direction of Bethesda at the current stage.
The uncertainty increased after GamesRadar quoted another statement by Howard in which he emphasized that Fallout 76 is the game that the team is still working on the most intensively at the moment, which reinforces the idea of continued strong support for the series even with future projects in development.
According to information circulating, The Elder Scrolls 6 is expected to be the next major project after the completion of the Starfield development cycle, followed by Fallout 5, but the timelines are still unclear.
Meanwhile, fans of the Fallout series continue to await potential announcements about Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas 2, but all that’s available so far are old rumors and leaked documents from years ago, with no official indications that these projects are coming soon.
