Everstone Studio and NetEase Games have announced that Where Winds Meet has reached 9 million players in just two weeks of its launch on PC and PlayStation 5. This achievement comes after the game surpassed the 10 million pre-registration barrier before launch, a clear indication of the amount of anticipation.
The game officially launched on November 14, 2025 and has since seen rapid growth in the number of players, reaching a peak of 251,008 concurrent players on Steam last week while currently maintaining an average of over 150,000 active players, a very high number for a new free-to-play RPG.
This number is expected to rise further with the release of the mobile version, which is still in pre-registration.
Where Winds Meet is set in ancient China during the 10th century, offering a Wuxia experience that combines legendary combat with free-roaming navigation. The player takes on the role of a young swordsman searching for the truth about his past in a world full of secrets and conflicts.
Wuxia navigation, multiple combat systems, and a huge world with more than 20 different regions filled with ancient cities, forgotten tombs, and heritage activities have given the game its own identity in the open-world genre and have led many to liken it to a cross between Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin’s Creed, but with an authentic Chinese Wuxia spirit.
With the game reaching 9 million players in a short period of time and a mobile version coming soon, Where Winds Meet seems to be firmly on track to become one of NetEase’s most prominent titles in the coming years.
