After rumors spread that the upcoming DualSense V3 version of the PlayStation 5 Pro console will come with a removable battery, popular content creator and tech reviewer Austin Evans has categorically denied this information.
In his latest video posted on his YouTube channel, Evans showed the latest version of the DualSense V3 controller that accompanies the PlayStation 5 Pro model, confirming that the battery is not removable, although it differs in type from that used in previous versions.
The original rumor first appeared on a Polish store called PPE, suggesting that a translation or transfer may have caused a misunderstanding, especially since the rest of the report’s details about the PS5 Pro’s specs were largely accurate.
Although the idea of a removable battery seems logical and appealing to users for ease of replacement and prolonging the life of use, Sony has not yet adopted this approach, and we are likely to wait until the next generation to see this type of improvement.
On the other hand, the video pointed out some minor changes in the design of the PlayStation 5 Pro, most notably the reduced weight of the device compared to previous versions, which is a recurring trend in recent platform updates.
As Sony continues to gradually update its current devices, all eyes are now on the next-generation PlayStation 6, which will reportedly come with a detachable disk reader, the same idea that was introduced midway through the current PlayStation 5’s lifecycle.
Thus, it seems that Sony prefers to maintain a fixed and closed battery design in the current consoles, preferring to focus on performance and comfort improvements rather than a radical change in the internal structure.
