Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 set a new record in the history of The Game Awards after receiving 12 nominations in 2025, surpassing the previous record held by The Last of Us Part II (2020) and God of War: Ragnarok (2023) with 11 nominations each.
The game, which impressed upon its release earlier this year thanks to its impressive art style and turn-based combat system inspired by Final Fantasy and Persona, received its highest rating in 2025 before being surpassed by Hades 2. Receiving 3 nominations in the Best Performance category alone emphasizes the power of in-game acting and the impact its characters have on players.
Along with this achievement, Sony earned a total of 19 nominations across games like Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Ghost of Yotei, while the Game of the Year list includes big contenders like:
