Microsoft has announced the addition of a long-awaited new feature to Windows 11, which is a full-screen mode for the Xbox experience, where PC users can experience a console-like experience than ever before, the feature is currently available to all Windows Insider subscribers via the latest preview update, but with the new update (Preview Build 26220.7271), the experience is as smooth as the Xbox interface.
Despite Microsoft’s support for the PC platform through Game Pass and most of its exclusives on it, the experience was not as smooth as the Xbox interface, but with the new update (Preview Build 26220.7271), Windows 11 offers a full interface experience just like Xbox when Full Screen Experience is activated.
Users can now easily switch between desktop and Xbox mode via Win + Tab or the taskbar, view the Xbox interface in the full screen without any distracting elements, run multiple open games in the background and navigate between them using the joystick directly, this step makes playing games on the computer very close to the console experience in terms of interface and navigation.
Microsoft has not yet revealed the official launch date for all Windows 11 users, but it usually transfers public Insider features within a few weeks or months, and given the repeated user requests for this feature, it is expected to be released very soon.
With the advent of devices like the ROG Ally Xbox Edition and the recent arrival of games like Halo: Combat Evolved on PS5, this update confirms that Microsoft wants to make the Xbox experience cross-platform and available “wherever and however you want.”
The full-screen feature may seem simple, but it fundamentally changes PC gameplay and bridges the distance between the Windows experience and the native Xbox experience.
