A video game industry insider has revealed that The Elder Scrolls 6 may not see the light of day before 2028 in the best case scenario, with a strong possibility of being delayed until 2029, more than 10 years after it was first revealed in 2018.
According to the well-known leaker Kiwitalkz, current estimates within the industry indicate that 2028 represents the minimum possible release, while 2029 is the closest scenario to reality. He explained that Bethesda avoids announcing any official time frame, realizing that setting an early date may harm the project, especially after publicly admitting that revealing the game in 2018 was much premature.
Todd Howard had previously stated that the announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6 was too early and that he wished it had been revealed in a more subdued manner rather than a full cinematic teaser at the time.
Kiwitalkz is one of the leakers known for the relative accuracy of their information, as he previously revealed that GTA 6 has been delayed based on sources inside Rockstar, which boosted his credibility with a wide range of followers, but the difference here is that Bethesda is still completely silent about the release date of its anticipated game.
In recent statements to Game Informer magazine , Todd Howard confirmed that the development of The Elder Scrolls 6 is going very well, indicating that the vast majority of Bethesda’s teams are currently working on the project. He also emphasized that his goal is to finish the game correctly, not as quickly as possible, explaining that AI tools are used only as aids and not as a substitute for human creativity or a factor to speed up development at the expense of quality.
Fans of the series remain in limbo, wondering if Bethesda will finally reveal a real gameplay demo or clearer information in the next few years.
