It looks like 2026 will be a special year for Dragon Ball fans, as official accounts for the series have confirmed that an all-new game will be officially revealed at the upcoming Genkida Matsuri event in Japan scheduled for January 25, 2026 to coincide with the series’ 40th anniversary.
The announcement came through Dragon Ball Games’ official X-platform account, which explained that the event will feature the latest news and major announcements for Dragon Ball titles, including a new game project that will be revealed for the first time in front of fans.
Masako Nozawa, the legendary voice of Son Goku, has also been confirmed to participate in the special event, adding even more excitement about the nature of this big announcement.
The Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri event will take place in Japan on January 25, 2026 and admission will be free with pre-registration via the event’s official website.
The year 2025 saw notable activity in the world of Dragon Ball games as Bandai Namco continues to continuously support 4 major titles:
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
- Dragon Ball Kakarot
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
These games have recently received new content from the Daima expansion while Sparking Zero is preparing to release Daima Pack 2 in January, the same month that the new game will be revealed.
Besides that, the company is also working on a new free-to-play MOBA titled Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra coming to phones as well as PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch, and PC.
The new game is expected to be the sixth title in the modern Dragon Ball series, reflecting the continued prosperity of the brand 4 decades after its debut in the 1980s.
Do you expect the upcoming game to be a new installment in the Sparking series, or a completely original project?
